Mike Haslam schrieb hierzu folgendes: Dear Colleagues, I write to inform you that the venue for the 2009 World Dragon Boat Racing Championships has been confirmed by the IDBF Council as Poznan, Poland. The Championships will be co-organised by the City of Poznan and the Polish Dragon Boat Federation (Poldbf). Poznan has previously hosted both a World Championships (2003) and a European Championships (2002) and the techincail facilities in Poznan are to World Class standard. This confirmation of Poznan follows a notification from the Russian Dragon Boat Federation (RDBF) that they wished to withdraw their candidture of Moscow as the venue, as the RDBF had not received any written confirmation from the City of Moscow authorities that they would support the Championship. The IDBF Council have received such a confirmation from Maciej Frankiewicz Deputy Mayor of the City of Poznan, who said:- "The authorities of the City of Poznan and the Board of the Polish Dragon Boat Federation inform you that hey are ready to organize the IDBF World Dragon Boat Championships 2009 on the “Malta” fairway.
The European Championships 2002 were organised on the “Malta” fairway and the World Dragon oat Championships 2003 were prepared in record time. The two events were highly rated both y participants and sports authorities, as well as by the mass media. The experience gained through he organization of those events will certainly guarantee perfect preparation and excellent ourse of World Championships 2009. "
